What are Yoga Workshops?
Yoga workshop(s) (Scaravelli inspired Yoga) gives you the time and space to explore and understand how compliant you are in yoga postures and movement. Humans are neurological creatures; how well we move depends on our “body map”. If our movements are not compliant with our unique body map, long term complications can arise if we push too hard to achieve an asana or pose. Therefore, it is vital for our long term health that our yoga practice does not do this. Under Erling’s experienced guidance, you’ll get the chance to change your awareness of how you “do yoga”.
Online Yoga Workshops.
Teaching Yoga workshops online is a reality in 2021. Zoom has enabled teachers to present their work to a greater audience, spanning time zones and continents. For me, it is a great opportunity to share my Yoga Philosophy. Numbers are limited, so you get the attention you need.
In-person Yoga Workshops.
Yoga workshop(s) (Scaravelli inspired Yoga) are my favourite teaching platform. We have the time and space to explore various themes. You’ll get to understand how to approach this holistic practice that is kind and informative. Let’s explore together.
Yoga workshops theme’s
Each yoga workshop has an idea. The morning session covers the topics of content in theory and practice. We will learn how to implement these into a yoga practice in the afternoon sessions. For example, the spine has a natural range of movement that we want to encourage. Learning about this above all will keep you mobile and healthy.
In that way, we can experience our unique neurological body map. How well we move in Yoga postures or asana depends on it.
Vanda Scaravelli understood that natural balance and how to find it in her yoga.
From her training in the anatomical precision of Iyengar Yoga and the emphasis on breath and ease in Desikachar’s Viniyoga, Vanda developed her own distinctive way of working with breath and gravity to free the spine. She distilled movement to a few essential principles: the surrender of the lower part of the body to gravity gives back a lightness that liberates the upper part of the body.
She inspired a generation of yoga teachers to explore and develop these principles, which continues today.
My Intention
Usually, yoga practitioners and teachers rarely question the guru teaching lineage. However, Scaravelli inspired Yoga is less dogmatic in its approach to learning. In a yoga workshop, I intend to help you clarify your practice.
Yoga is about awareness.
Your body has an innate intelligence, tapping into that, stopping to listen, and experience the internal dialogue taking place. Together we can explore this in our yoga class.
Why do I teach Scaravelli inspired yoga?
“Developing a safe and informed yoga practice will bring untold rewards to the individual. I think Vanda Scaravelli found within herself a kind, direct route to Yoga…a state of being. She has influenced many others to find that too. Sharing some of her and my other teachers’ insights, I hope they will benefit you in your yoga practice.”
Is Yoga Exercise or How I Feel?
Even the most dynamic forms of Yoga are not substantially aerobic. But they all have a considerable benefit through the parasympathetic nervous system. We connect to the world through our central nervous system so how we relate to ourselves and others is how we feel.
Yoga means many things, too many people. After more than 25 years of practice and teaching, I feel that it is about what we believe. Our beliefs determine our reality. In our Yoga Workshop, you have the chance to explore what it means to you.

A Compliant Spine.
The spine is the engine of your movements. Humans need to practice movements to be resilient to them. Functional movements, like bending down or standing, walking, reaching up, running, are habituated through repetition. Over time we build a unique map or patterns that govern wherein our spines move. A compliant spine moves us well. But what happens when your spine is not? You overuse the areas you move well from and exclude the places you have not mapped.
During this yoga workshop, we’ll explore how you can identify how compliant your spine is. Together, we’ll evaluate how to effectively focus your yoga practice to allow your spine to move you freely, safely and compliantly in your yoga practice.
TBA 2021
Breathing, it’s just you.
We humans come into the world knowing how to breathe. In Yoga, we give breath special meaning because of its historical connection to prana (the vital life force). As a result, humans become tense in life. But if we are habitually tight, we don’ get to breathe optimally. During this workshop, I’ll teach techniques to release muscular tension. When there is less tension, your body self-regulates breathing. It is not about you imposing ideas on yourself. It is about you being you.
Theory of movement.
In this yoga workshop, we’ll explore the theory of movement in a Modern Postural Yoga Practice. Your yoga practice should support the normal range of functional movement we humans have. Sometimes the opposite happens. I will share some background and history of yoga asana and develop safe practice methods that avoid injury or strain.

Why are we doing Yoga?
No, nothing of the kind. No motivation, no aims, only an agreeable appointment for the body to look forward to. We do it for the fun of it. To twist, stretch and move around, is pleasant and enjoyable, a body holiday. There is an unexpected delight in meeting the earth and sky at the same moment!
