Erling’s Personalised Yoga retreats are an opportunity for an individualised immersive yoga retreat delivered by a 500-hour level teacher with 20 years of teaching experience. Uniquely for up to only three students at a time.
What we have
We have a beautiful private home, Yoga studio and residential accommodation in our annexe one-bedroom flat. The flat is modern, cosy and quiet, facing the rear garden and sea. The lounge has a folding double futon sofa, so two friends can share the space. In the main house, the Yoga studio is imbued with a sense of calm and peacefulness after 19 years of use as a Yoga & meditation space.

Scaravelli inspired Yoga. Although I have had a long journey in Yoga, the individuals’ needs are centre stage in this style of Hatha Yoga. Traditionally Yoga students receive teachings according to their capacity at any given time. I think a good practice reveals your unique body map. They were creating a sustainable Yoga practice to benefit now and in later life.
Why it works
Classical Yoga asks the student to fit an asana, a prescribed body shape. Scaravelli inspired Yoga to encourage the opposite, allowing you to make the asana suit you. To your unique and individual body map.
The feeling of what is
We focus on how we feel movement in and out of poses and during them. These feelings are how our central nervous system communicates with us. So we listen to our sensory nervous system. It is a somatic approach that honours the Yoga sutras of Patanjali.
When you are guided by what it feels like rather than how it looks, you start to develop a sustainable Yoga practice that chimes with where you are right now.
Your spine is the engine of locomotion.
Freedom is the goal of Yoga practice, both physically and mentally. We don’t need to load our movement with extra muscular tension; that is ineffective. Using muscles efficiently means not overworking them. Because then there is less tension, we tend to find movement easier when there is less tension. I teach this methodology in all my Yoga classes and workshops.

How to get here
There are national rail links to Portsmouth Harbour and connecting ferries with the Island line trains. Shanklin is only 20 minutes on an incredible ex London underground carriage from Ryde pierhead. You can walk to us in less than 8 minutes with the sea in sight.
When can you make it?
I am running a series of monthly retreats for one to two students per retreat.

Friday ~ Day one
- 3 pm arrival settle into flat, refreshments.
- 4 pm retreat introduction and personal yoga assessment
- 7 pm dinner
Saturday~ Day two
- 8 am breakfast
- 10 am to 12:30 pm yoga session
- 1:30 pm lunch
- Freetime
- 7 pm dinner
Sunday ~ Day three
- 8 am breakfast
- 10 am to 12:30 pm yoga session
- 1:30 pm lunch
- 3 pm departure
