Scaravelli-inspired yoga with Erling

Isle of Wight Yoga Classes

Small, welcoming Yoga classes in my Shanklin home studio, with space to explore movement, breath and awareness without forcing. My Scaravelli-inspired approach helps you recognise unnecessary tension, discover greater ease in movement and develop a practice that responds to the body you have today.

working with me

Yoga is your awareness.

Yoga in action is how well you discriminate between tension and effort when you move in poses.

My teaching is Scaravelli-inspired: an exploration of how gravity, breath and the spine can support movement rather than something we impose on the body.

Instead of trying to achieve a particular shape, we pay attention to how you move, where unnecessary tension appears, and what changes when you give the body time to respond. The aim is not to make everyone move in the same way, but to develop greater awareness, ease and confidence in your own movement.

I teach Friday morning classes in small groups at my home studio in Shanklin. Classes are booked in six-week blocks at £78 (£13 per class). Drop-in places are £15 when space is available.

About my teaching.

Yoga Classes with Erling

I’ve been teaching yoga for more than 25 years, and after some time away from regular classes, I’m happy to welcome students back to my home studio in Shanklin.

I deliberately keep the groups small. It gives me time to see the person rather than just the pose—to notice how you move, respond to questions, and let the practice develop around the people in the room.

My teaching has been shaped by Scaravelli-inspired yoga and by a continuing interest in functional human movement. I’m less interested in achieving a particular shape than in what you can discover about support, breath, gravity, the spine, tension, effort and ease through practice.

Questions about joining a class

Common questions.

No previous yoga experience is needed. My classes welcome complete beginners alongside experienced practitioners. The Scaravelli approach adapts to your individual body and abilities.

Please let me know about any injuries, recent surgery or other physical concerns before class. Because the groups are small, there is usually scope to explore different ways of working and to adapt the practice to what is appropriate for you.

Yoga classes are not a substitute for medical treatment, so if you are unsure whether practising is suitable for you, please check with an appropriate healthcare professional first.

Classes take place in my dedicated home studio in Shanklin, Isle of Wight. The space has been designed specifically for yoga practice since 2003. Exact address provided upon booking.

Just wear comfortable clothes you can move in. All mats, props, and equipment are provided. Bring a water bottle if needed.

Regular Friday classes are booked in six-week blocks for £78. Drop-in places are £15 per class when space is available. Because the groups are small, booking ahead is essential.

You’re welcome to join the regular classes, but if you would like more time to understand the basics before joining a group, have a look at my Beginners’ Saturday Intro.
