Yoga with Erling
Erling’s natural yoga approach can enable you to experience yourself during your yoga practice fully. Because we focus on how we feel, the sensations in all our movements, our neurological map is revealed to us. How well we move in yoga postures or asana depends on it. Classical yoga tends to make the asana the final objective because it has an end purpose.
Scaravelli yoga takes a more pragmatic and anatomical approach. Vanda Scaravelli pioneered this way and inspired many yoga teachers to follow her. She thought that gravity played its part and encouraged students to let go and go with it. The feeling is essential in Erling’s natural yoga approach, and the central nervous system provides you with the sensations you can notice. Listening provides a framework for how you respond to sensory input.
My approach to yoga teaching is to encourage students to develop an awareness of their unique body maps. Only then can they work to establish intuitive movements, which feel like freedom.
We want to use muscles efficiently and not overwork them. When we can do this, there is less tension, and when there is less tension, you find more ease in movement and your spine can move more freely. Freedom has always been the goal of yoga.
